Taking a new class

art

I’m taking a new class with Daniel Mirante. It’s a visionary art class which uses old painting methods. I’m creating gray scale exercises on an imprimatura. We start with transfers using chalk or charcoal. If charcoal, then ink goes over the lines which creates what is called a cartoon. Once that is dry, then the imprimatura (base coat) goes over the ink. Next is the tempea grassa (white egg tempera) is painted onto the primatura in a gray scale. below are some examples to that point.
